DFA Releases The 2 Bears, New Project From Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard

Whether you were clubbing in the 70s, 80s, 90s, or 2010s – The 2 Bears will find your groove and work you ’til sunrise. Joe Goddard of Hot Chip and DJ Raf Daddy team up for a new full length via DFA Records that captures the warmth and joy of disco, house, and electro music past and present. The result is Be Strong, twelve songs of infectious dance floor joy that could make even the most dour character tap his feet.
With both members juggling vocal and production duties, the ursine duo get relentless with their precision grooves, fat kicks, and on-point synth lines that equal into near flawless riddims for clubbers on both sides of the Atlantic (2 Bears are based in London; DFA New York City). “The Birds and The Bees” layers thick analog synths atop a chest-thumping kick drum, singles “Bear Hug” and “Be Strong” revel in their playful hooks, and the funkified “Heart of the Congos” and “Time In Mind” sound like Damon Albarn letting loose. Even at the risk of sounding too cheesy, The 2 Bears make Ibiza diva vocals sound less eye-roll worthy with the bed of precision sound design and impressive song arrangements. Joe and Raf are professional groove makers, and Be Strong proves the new duo are 2012′s hottest new dance outfit to watch.
