Leonard Cohen, speaking about 'Old Ideas'
If 2012 truly brings about the end of the world, fans of Leonard Cohen will line up at the pearly gates with wide smiles, having just spent their last year on earth devouring Cohen’s Old Ideas. A moody masterpiece, the album at once signals Cohen’s return to recording and his return to the road. Some songs are new, some “very old,” says Cohen. The recordings are spare and unadorned, consisting mainly of vocals and guitar. And although the songs’ topics range from personal ruminations to thoughts on Hurricane Katrina, their stark sound glues the tracks together, making Old Ideas the very model of what an album should be.Explore Leonard Cohen’s ‘Old Ideas’

Ringo Starr
Sir Paul isn’t the only Beatle with fresh new music for us in 2012. The legendary Ringo Starr has been in the studio as well, laying down tracks for his new album, simply titled Ringo 2012. This isn’t the first time Starr has named an album after himself: 1973′s Ringo was self-titled, and one of those songs (“Think It Over”) is reprised on 2012 with an updated, up-tempo sound. The album includes help from some of Starr’s famous friends – look out for cameos from the likes of Joe Walsh, Edgar Winter, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.Watch Ringo Perform ‘Think It Over’ Inside
